Registering Your Vehicle in Spain

Everything you Need to Know

Car registration in Spain is mandatory for vehicles used by residents. This involves inspection, paying road tax, and registration taxes based on the type of vehicle.

What is it?

Understanding Vehicle Registration

Vehicle registration in Spain assigns a registration plate valid in the country to your vehicle. This process is compulsory for residents staying over six months (except for study periods). It involves several steps, including vehicle inspections, tax payments, and obtaining the registration itself. Failure to register within six months can lead to administrative penalties and vehicle immobilisation.
