Who Needs a TIE Card?

Non-European citizens must apply for a TIE card if authorised to reside in Spain for over six months. Note:

  • It is not issued for 180-day visas.
  • Application must occur after entering Spain or receiving residency authorisation.
  • The card is personal, non-transferable, and valid for the duration of the residency permit.

How to Apply for Your TIE Card

To apply for your TIE card:

  1. Obtain empadronamiento (register your address in Spain).
  2. Book an appointment for fingerprinting at your local immigration office.
  3. Wait approximately one month to receive the original card.

Ensure you bring the required documents, including your NIE and proof of residency, to your appointment.
