Registering a Civil Partnership
Everything you Need to Know
Registering a civil partnership in Spain offers legal recognition of a relationship and may be used for residency applications, provided the couple meets eligibility criteria.
What is it?
Understanding Civil Partnerships
A civil partnership is a legally recognized union between two individuals who meet specific criteria. If you have lived together for more than two years, formalized your relationship through a notary, or share a common child, the law recognizes your relationship as a civil partnership. While it is slightly less formal than marriage, it offers many of the same legal benefits and is often a quick and straightforward solution for consolidating your relationship or applying for residency.

Adelina Ive I learned of NIE through my university and I am grateful I opted for their services, which are reasonably priced. They don't just compile the necessary documentation and book the appointment but accompany you and ensure you have everything needed before the appointments. I appreciated Marketa especially for helping me navigate the local bureaucracy. If I had attempted to do this alone, I would have probably ended up taking double the time and several trips to government offices to make sure I got the registration and NIE card. Well worth it and can only recommend! Paulina Marketa helped me through every step on NIE application and was very patient explaining what is needed. She was there with me on the appointment and helped with filling out the documents required. Marketa is super friendly and approachable, I couldn't recommend NIE.CAT services more! Rod Tele It was a very good and helpful experience. Email responce was great, and being able to explain in English was even better, thanks. Davide Recommended! Communicative, and quick - totally satisfied! Marketa has been incredibly helpful! Mini Zabala I truly appreciate Daniela for guiding me through the successful application for my Golden Visa! I also appreciate being informed on activities like the Barcelona International Community Day! Bill Condon Exceptional service and support - super professional and Marketa ensured that my son's NIE application was painless and she helped us avoid a pitfall with an incorrect document - highly recommended! and saved us time and money. george ts. Professional and punctual, they made the NIE process very easy! I was done in 15 minutes. Would highly recommend! Robert Andrei Eduard Chetaille Marketa was exceptional! I contacted her through an email as a friend recommended her. In my case, I had changed my surname after marriage and I needed help to get my NIE updated as well. She took care of everything, getting the appointment, checking the documents I needed to present etc... I'll definitely use their services in the future if I'll be in need again!
